Anna Burke, age 100, of Forest City, IA passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday July 21 at The First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Bill Peake officiating. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 PM at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
Anna Vivian Burke was born on March 14th, 1912 to Jake and Tena (Alphs) Alberts of Buffalo Center. She passed from this life on July 15th at the age of 100 while at Hospice of North Iowa surrounded by her family.
Anna was married to Melvin Burke and to this union there were three daughters, Beverly Sunde, Patricia Neesen and Cheryl Burke. Anna and Melvin lived their entire married life on their farm near Thompson, Iowa. Melvin passed away in 1985 and six years later Anna moved to Forest City where she remained until a few days before her death.
Anna was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. Anna will be remembered for her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens and her love of feeding and watching birds in her backyard, she was also an accomplished homemaker and cook.
Anna is survived by her daughters; Beverly Sunde, Patricia Neesen and Cheryl Burke. She is also survived by son-in-law; Joseph Neesen, grandchildren; Larry Sunde, Amy Neesen Woolf, Stephanie Neesen Carter plus four great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, sisters Frances and Ida and son-in-law Eldon Sunde as well as several nieces and nephews.
