Services will be 11 AM Wednesday July 11, 2012 at The Eagle Center in Lakota. Visitation will be Tuesday July 10 from 5-8 PM at Winter Funeral Home in Buffalo Center. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.
Robert Alanson Stewart, age 87, died peacefully on July 6, 2012 in the Hospice of the Heartland of the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona, IA.
He was born on May 26, 1925 to John Ross Stewart and Sarah Elizabeth Lyon in Pilot Grove Township, Elmore, MN. He lived and farmed in the Elmore area for several years after graduating from Elmore High School in 1942.
On July 8, 1946 he married Lorraine Sleper. To this union three children were born, Andrea, Robert and Alanson. Throughout his work life he was a line foreman for Gerring Industries, a carpenter for Nordaas American and Green Giant all the while pursuing his love of being a steward of the land through farming. Upon retiring from farming in 1984, Bob and Lorraine moved to the Twin Cities and were property managers of condominium complexes.
Bob enjoyed reading, bird watching, nature, hunting, fishing and gardening all the while enjoying his time with many family members and friends. Bob enjoyed sharing thoughts of our Lord and was a humble servant of God until the end.
He is survived and loved by his wife Lorraine, daughter Andrea Silfverston of Laughlin, NV, sons Robert Dean (Pat) of Jackson, MN and Alanson (Susan) of Lakeville, MN, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Elaine Elizabeth Hoppe, brothers, John C. Stewart, Jr. and Kenneth J. Stewart and sister-in-law, Eleanor Stewart; as well as a host of family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, brother Harry, mother and father-in-law Everett and Andrea Sleper, two sister-in-laws, and three brother-in-laws.
