Donald Berhow, age 83 of Buffalo Center, IA passed away at home on Tuesday, June 19, 2012.
Services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Buffalo Center.
Donald Wayne Berhow, 83, son of Roy and Annie (Lamping) Berhow was born April 26, 1929 in rural Winnebago County, Iowa.
On November 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Jean Weaver at the First Congregational Church in Buffalo Center.
Don was a lifetime resident of Winnebago County in the Buffalo Center/Thompson area. After retiring from farming in 1995, they moved into Buffalo Center where they have resided since.
Don greatly enjoyed life, playing cards and spending time with friends and family. Never having children, Don’s brothers, brother in law, sister in law, nieces and nephews were his family.
Don was a very avid fisherman and spent a lot of time fishing with friends and family in Minnesota, South Dakota and Canada. For several years, the five brothers and step Dad, Clarence Olson, spent time in Canada fishing and having a good time. Later it was the five brothers and a nephew that went to Canada together.
Don is survived by his brothers, Randy and Mary Berhow Watertown, MN, Jim of Ames, IA, his special caregiver Linda Berhow of Miller, IA, brother in law Gary and Alice Weaver, of Palm Bay. FL, two sisters in law, Zella and Dustin Mirick of Eagan, MN. and Verna Jean Ewert of Milwaukee, WI. Also a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife Myrt, brothers Cleo, Robert “Bob”, Tom, sister Shirley, brother in law Calvin Wilson.
Memorials in honor of Don can be left at Hospice of the Heartland or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
