Darla Petersen, age 52, of Northfield, MN, formerly of Blue Earth, MN passed away in her home Wednesday June 13, 2012.

A memorial service will be held 2pm Sunday June 17, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Blue Earth.

Darla Kay Petersen (Hagedorn) passed away on June 13, 2012 at the age of 52, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Darla was born in Blue Earth, MN on September 8, 1959. She went to Blue Earth High School where she graduated in 1978. She went on to earn her Bachelors degree in Medical Technology from Mankato State University and then her Masters degree from St. Mary’s University in St. Paul. Darla worked for 17 years in the medical lab department of numerous hospitals until she joined the teaching staff of South Central College.

Darla was a woman of great heart, remarkable work ethic, integrity, amazing strength and resilience. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Darla is survived by her son Zachary, her mother Betty Hagedorn, her four brothers; Don (Tina), Mike (Ali), Gary (Jolleen) and Todd (Charlie), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews any several close friends, such as Brian Hanks.

She is preceded in death by her father Don, brother Robert, grandparents and her niece Kimberly.
