Esther Grimes, age 96, of Buffalo Center, passed away Wednesday May 23 at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

A memorial service will be held 10 AM Monday May 28 at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Center with Pastor Perry Aalgaard officiating. Burial will be at Olena Mound Cemetery.

Esther Grimes was born December 26, 1915 in Buffalo Center to Dietrick (Dick) and Grace (Adams) Wempen. She grew up and attended school in Buffalo Center.

On September 10, 1937, she married David L. Grimes at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo Center. She remained a member there throughout her life. The couple lived on a farm two miles west of Buffalo Center.

Esther is survived by her three children; David V. (Judy) Grimes, Marvel Dell Pearce and Mark (Lori) Grimes. She was blessed with six grandchildren; Kris Grimes, Pam Swyter, Michael (Tana) Swyter, Meghan Grimes, Sarah Grimes and Norah Grimes; eleven great grandchildren; Alex Meyer, Kyle Meyer, Luke Meyer, Katie Meyer, Ellie Meyer, Eric Tusing, Brooklyn Tusing, Dakota Tusing, Ryan Tusing, Tyler Swyter and Kacy Swyter and three great-great grandchildren; Eric, Tristen and Corbin.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
